Richard D. SCATTERGOOD, of this borough, reports to the Philadelphia Navy Yard today, when he will be given a temporary assignment on active sea duty. He has been at his home for the past week on leave, following the completion of training in Chicago. Private First Class Preston MORRISSEY, of Kennett Square, who has been stationed at Pine Camp, New York, for the past sixteen months, has been transferred to Nashville, Tenn. His address is: Co. A. 46th Medical Bn., Armored Division, Nashville, Tenn., A.P.O. 254, A.S.N., 33052815. Private Walter M. HANNUM, of 128 Lacey street, West Chester, has returned to Fort Eustis, Va., after a week-end leave. H. Kenton NEWLIN, Seaman Second Class, former member of the Board of Supervisors of West Whiteland township, is now stationed at the United States Naval Base, Cape May, N.J. He was an active member of the West Chester Platoon of the Pennsylvania Reserve Defense Corps up until the time of his enlistment in the U.S. Navy. Any letters from his many friends in Chester County would be greatly appreciated. Private George FESSENBECKER, son of Mr. And Mrs. George Fessenbecker, of 241 East Chestnut street, is home on a week’s furlough from Fort Davis, North Carolina. Private Fessenbecker has charge of a gun crew in the 430th Battalion, Anti-Aircraft, at Fort Davis, and is also active in the Battalion’s Drum and Bugle Corps, where he is a drummer. Captain Reardon S. COTTOR, Jr., who is in the Signal Corps and received his promotion on September 28th, recently visited Mrs. Cotter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. TAYLOR, of Unionville. Private Clarence W. CHAMBERS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chambers, of Avondale, who enlisted in the U.S. Army, spent Sunday at his home. On his return to camp he expects to be transferred to an unknown address. Richard Sharpless SCOTT, A.S., who recently was stationed at Curtis Bay, Md., has been transferred to the United States Coast Guard Lifeboat Station, Big Kinnakeet, Avon, N.C.
