D’AMBROSIO, son of Mrs. Jennie D’Ambrosio, of Lancaster Pike, Paoli, is now undergoing rigorous training in fighting tactics as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He is a former Berwyn High athlete. (photo) Earl MOHN, of West Chester, who entered the Army in May of this year and who has been stationed in Miami Beach for the past four months, is now a sergeant and is going to Officer’s Candidate School at Miami Beach. He will graduate in December and will have the rank of second lieutenant in the Air Corps. His address is O/C Mohn, E.R., Squad 10, Group B.O.C.S., Miami Beach, Fla. Charles F. CRAWFORD, Co. B, 760th Engineers, Diesel Shop Bn., returned on Saturday evening to Camp Claiborne, La., after spending a 10-day furlough with his parents, E.J. and Elizabeth Crawford, of Paoli. The Crawfords have received word that their other son, Eugene J. Crawford, Jr., has been promoted to Private 1st Class. He is stationed at Camp Hunter Field, Savannah, Ga., but has just arrived home on a three-day leave. Earl WEBB, of the U.S. Coast Guard, is also home on leave. Harry William BOORTSALAS, 20, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gus R. Boortsalas, 419 Price Street, enlisted in the U.S. Navy yesterday and expects to be in the service soon. His brother George, 23, has been in the U.S. Army for some time and is now stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. Private Edgar T. DALE, U.S. Marine Corps, has completed intensive basic training at Paris Island, S.C., and is now at the Ordnance School, Quantico, Virginia. During this training period Private Dale was awarded the sharpshooter medal and received “expert bayonetist” classification. He has been is the service since July 22nd. Private Ralph B. LOLLER, of Longwood, who has been stationed at Miami Beach, Fla., in the 598th Technician School Squadron, has now been transferred to the 414th Technician School Squadron at Gulfport Field, Miss. This is an entirely new camp and at the present time is accommodating 1400 men with about 30,000 expected within the next two months. Private Loller’s address is now 414th Tech School Squadron, Flight E, Group 13, Gulfport Field, Gulfport, Miss. Private Warren B. LOLLER, who enlisted in the U.S. Marines, has served almost four weeks at Parris Island, S.C., and expects to be transferred soon to New River, N.C. He likes the Marine life and his buddies are three other boys of his home community. They are Private Jack HITCHENS, of Hamorton, Pvt. William STURGIS, of Embreeville, and Pvt. Calvin BRACKIN, of Kennett Square. Lieutenant Commander Joseph BIXBY, of the United States Naval Reserves, is at his home in Green Tree after a year and a half of constant service in the Panama Canal Zone. He is in the States only for a short time. In a few days he will go to Washington on business and then return to his duties in Panama. Sergeant Levi V. KEEN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Keen, of Garfield Avenue, is now with the U. S. Army Air Forces in England. Formerly he was stationed at Geiger Field, Spokane, Wash. His brother, Private Paul Keen, who has been at Camp Wheeler, Ga., for 3 months past, is now at Fort Hamilton, N.Y. Pvt. Edwin C. SPEAKMAN, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Earl Speakman, of Honey Brook, Pa., R.D. No. 1, is located in England. In letter received by his family he states that he is well and doing fine, and recently enjoyed two day’s leave in London.
