All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ (Burials: E Coventry Mennonite) Montgomery Ledger, 5/5/1863 edition: Military Items - The body of Corporal Samuel WILLAUER, son of Samuel WILLAUER, Esq., of North Coventry Twp., Chester county, who was killed in the battle of Fredericksburg, was brought home for interment last week, and also the body of private David E MAJOR, of East Coventry, who died a short time previously while on a march. Both of these unfortunate young men were members of Co C., 116th Pennsylvania Regt., and their bodies were brought home by Capt. S. G. Willauer, of that Regiment. They were interred on Thursday last, April 30th, at the Mennonite burial ground, in East Coventry township, the funerals being very largely attended. Sergt. George Scheetz and privates William Lessig, Englebert Lessig, M.V. Smith and Jonas W Burns, all formerly soldiers of the 53rd PA Regt., acted as escort of honor on the occasion.
