We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ****************************************************************** January 19, 1864 VILLAGE RECORD Accident SEVERE ACCIDENT - Eliza << Pennypacker>> , wife of Dr. Nathan << Pennypacker>> , of Charlestown, Chester county, was severely wounded on the Railroad, on Tuesday last. She was returning from Washington, where she had been visiting her husband, who is in the army. When near Baltimore, the axle of the car she was in broke - the car was thrown from the track, and then turned over on its side. Of course a number of the passengers were injured. Mrs. << Pennypacker>> was violently thrown to the floor, and jambed in between the seats, whereby she had her shoulder blade broken in two places, and received two severe cuts on the head - one immediately above one of her eyes. She was insensible for some time, but after a time she was able to proceed on her journey, and reached home the next day.
