All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Lynne Witte imwitte1@verizon.net April 17, 2005, 11:42 am American Republican, Nov 25, 1818 November 25, 1818 Land for Sale, Will be sold at Public Auction, on the premises, on the 7th day the 19th day of the 12th month, at 12 o'clock, a VALUABLE PLANTATION, Containing about 146 acres, 35 of which is good woodland, lying in Mill Creek Hundred, New Castle county, State of Delaware- 8 miles from the borough of Wilmington- formerly the property of ISAAC CHANDLER, dec'd, bounded by lands of Levi Garrett, Thomas Little, James Phillips and others. The buildings are a two story stone house with three rooms on each floor with a log kitchen adjoining it, both cellared under; a Barn cellared under- and a stone spring house with a never failing sping of water- an apple orchard of excellent fruit of different kinds, and other fruit trees. This farm is convenient to Mills and places of public worship and is conveniently watered, having water in every field and a handsome stream of water running through it. The land is an excellent quality and is now in a state of cultivation, and is well set with clover and timothy; there is of the farm 15 acres of excellent meadow. For farther particulars enquire of the subscribers living on the Gap and Newport turnpike-- 7 1/2 miles from Wilmington and about 1 mile from this farm. Eleventh month 25, 1818 Additional Comments: Isaac Chandler was a greatgrandson of the George Chandlers who came to America in 1687. He died April 9,1802, and his wife Esther died August 6, 1818. After her death two of their sons, Swithin and Spencer Chandler, sold the plantation. They also livied in Chester county and had children who lived in Chester County.
