H.P. “Jack” Akin

H. P. “Jack” Akin, 88, of 1459 Glenbrook La., West Chester, died yesterday at 
Chester County Hospital, West Chester, apparently after a heart attack. He was 
the widower of Bertha B. Akin. 

Mr. Akin was retired owner-manager of a grocery store in California. He was 
the son of the late George and Gertrude Tutnan and moved to Chester County ten 
years ago. He is survived by three daughters, Marjorie, wife of Robert Rowe of 
Arroyo Grande, Calif.,  Lois, wife of Wallace Schultz of Garden Grove, Calif. 
and Jean, wife of Charles E. Andrew of West Chester; four grandchildren and 
six great-grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. 
at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, West Chester.  Interment will be 
private.
