Harvey Althouse, 57, of Sadsburyville, former owner and operator of Harvey’s Diner, W. Lincoln Hwy., and for the past three years a member of the Sadsbury Township police force, died suddenly early Sunday morning at Coatesville Hospital shortly after admission. A resident of the area for the past 13 years, he had operated the diner for ten years prior to employment in the township where he directed school busses a the crossroads. Before returning to this area, he had resided in Dundalk, Md, near Baltimore, for about ten years, and had operated a trucking business in Maryland. He was also a former employe of Bethlehem Steel Co., both in this city and Sparrows Point, Md. Born in Parkesburg, he was a son of the late George and Isabella Mulvaney Althouse. He was a member of the Sadsburyville Fire Company and attended Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife, the former Gertrude Haws, he is survived by two sons, James H. Althouse, Sadsburyville; and Donald R. Althouse, Watertown, N.Y., five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Olive Reed and Mrs. Sally McConon, both of Parkesburg RD; a brother, Roy Althouse, Detroit, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held from Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main Street, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. Additional Comments: Determine day of death.
