March 25, 1941	Mrs. John Anderson
Emily Burton, wife of John Anderson, died on Sunday night at her home in 
Ardmore, aged 63 years.  She had suffered a stroke on Friday night.

Mrs. Anderson was born in West Chester, a daughter of William and Julia 
Burton.  Her husband, a son of the late James Anderson, was a well known barber.

Most of her early life was spent in West Chester, where she attended the public 
schools, and was an active member of the Second Presbyterian Church.  Shortly 
after her marriage, they moved to Ardmore, where her husband had his business.  
The deceased lived a devoted, happy married life for nearly forty years.  Se 
was an earnest member of Zion Baptist Church and worked in the Ladies’ 
Auxiliary for about five years.  She was also a member of the Idle Hour Social 
Club.

Besides her husband, she is survived by four sisters, Mattie, wife of Granville 
Anderson; Mrs. Edward Riley, Mrs. Prudence Patton and Mrs. Viola Patton and two 
brothers, Walter and William Burton, all of West Chester.

March 27, 1941, at 1 P.M. Viewing at 162 Simpson Road, Ardmore, PA 7 to 9 p.m. 
Wednesday, March 26.  Viewing and interment at Chestnut Grove Annex Chapel, 3 
P.M. Thursday March 27.
