Burton, aged 69 years, died yesterday at his home, 215 West Lafayette Street, after a prolonged sickness. He was one of the best-known colored residents of the borough. A son recently died of injuries received during the World War. He leaves a widow and several grown-up children. For many years Burton had worked in this section as a quarryman. At which work he was considered an expert. He had a wide circle of friends in this section. Daily Local News, March 22, 1899 On Monday evening Clifford A. Burton and wife, 115 West Fayette Street, were given a reception on their twenty–seventh wedding anniversary by their daughters and Mrs. Lydia Burton. They were the recipients of many useful and valuable presents. Those present were Burton Valentine, of Wilmington, Del.; Pennock Valentine and wife, of West Grove; Norwood Burton and wife, of Kennett Square; Chalkley Curry, Thomas H Burton and wife, Miss Laura Burton, Charles Burton, Lawrence Burton, Philip Burton, Joseph Burton, Alban Burton and wife and son Frederick, Mrs. Williams and daughter, and Mrs. McNamee, of West Chester.
