Private Chandler, member of Headquarters 169th artillery Regiment at the time of his death, was born in Yorklyn, the son of Thomas and Isabella Chandler, both deceased. Before entering into the service of his country, he attended school at Yorklyn, was further educated at Wilmington Trade School, and was employed as landscaper at a private residence on Kennett Pike prior to the war. He was 25 years of age at the time of his death. Survivors in his immediate family are his sisters, Emma, wife of Howard Work, of Wilmington and Isabella, of Yorklyn; and brothers, Thomas, of Kennett Square, and William and Joseph, of Yorklyn. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, conducted by members of Bailey-Brennen-Chandler Post 5892, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
