Smith, wife of George Walter Conover, passed away at her home at 215 Chapel Avenue, at 3:45 this morning, in the 19th year of her age, after a weeks illness from typhoid pneumonia. Mrs. Conover was married in November, and her former home was in Coatesville, where she had lived for a number of years, and was a member of Olivet M.E. Church, Coatesville. She was a daughter of Chas. H. and Lavinia R. Smith of Coatesville, and besides her husband and parents, other surviving members of her family are four sisters and one brother: Anna C. Rubincam, Abbie A. Smith, Sue M. Smith, Dorothy E. Smith and Chas. M. Smith. The young husband and her parents have the sympathy of many friends in their time of their sad bereavement. Daily Local News, February 14, 1918 CONOVER- In Parkesburg, on February 14, 1918, Mary Ethel, nee Smith, wife of Walter Conover, in her 19th year. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral without further notice from her late home, 215 Chapel Avenue, Parkesburg, on Monday, February 18, 1918, at 2 o’clock p.m. Interment at Octoraro Cemetery Daily Local News, February 19, 1918 The funeral services for Mrs. G. Walter Conover were held yesterday afternoon from her late home, 215 Chapel Avenue, Parkesburg, and were very largely attended. Rev. F.A. Manlove, pastor of Parkesburg M.E. Church, spoke, and members of the church choir sang “Asleep with Jesus” and “Face to Face”. The form of the young bride was gowned in white, and reposed in a white casket, about which were banked a profusion of lovely floral tokens from the Forge Department of the Parkesburg Iron Company, the M.E. Church, of this place, and from relatives and friends. The pall bearers were: Messrs. Abner J. Pryor, Pomeroy; Isaac Smith, Wawa; Christian Frank, Coatesville; Clarence Souilliard, George Souilliard and Earl McCrea, of this place. Interment was made in Upper Octoraro Cemetery. Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were; Mrs. Thomas J. Smith, Miss Myrtle Smith, Isaac Smith, Wawa; Miss Katherine Smith, Vineland, N.J.; Mrs. Annetta Jackson, A.J. Pryor, Pomeroy; Mrs. John Rooney, John F. Smith, Kennett Square; Miss Margaret Smith, Philadelphia; Thaddeus Brooks, Harry Brooks, Lancaster; Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Brooks, Norristown; Mr. and Mrs. James Brooks, Unionville’ and other relatives from Yorklyn, Del., and Media. There was a large attendance of young girl friends of the deceased young woman who came from Coatesville, and among there was a large number of members of Mrs. Mae Spackman’s Sunday School, to which Mrs. Conover belonged before her marriage. Additional Comments: Note: The deceased was only married a few months before death Daily Local News, November 21, 1917 Conover-Smith G. Walter Conover, of this place, and Miss Mary E. Smith, of Coatesville, were united in marriage in Philadelphia, last Saturday. The young people have the best wishes of their many friends. They will reside in Parkesburg.
