He was the husband of Mary Feighery Courtney. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Edmund Courtney and Della Courtney McConkey. He lived in Downingtown since moving from King of Prussia 15 years ago. Mr. Courtney retired in 1963 after 32 years as a meterologist (sic) with the U.S. Weather Bureau. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War I and a member of the American Meterologists Society. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, George R. of Downingtown and Howard O. of Greenwich, Conn.; five daughters, Catherine DeWitt of Dallas, Tex; Joan P. Courtney of Downingtown, Sister Maria Goretti, sisters of Christian Charity of Camp Hill, Diane C. Honsen of Downingtown, and Linda C. Kieser of Montoursville, and 11 grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Ralston & Bredickas Funeral Home, Downingtown. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown.
