All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ Daily Local West Chester Pennsylvania August 21 1916 CHARLES C ENTRIKEN In Malvern on Saturday, Charles C Entriken a veteran resident who had taken much interest in public affairs died in his 83rd year. He had been retired for some years, and last winter was in a serious condition, then rallied and was able to ride out in an automobile but for the past two months had been confined to the house. He was born near Chadds' Ford in 1834, a son of John Entriken and in his youth he conducted Entriken's Mill, south of Duffryn Mawr. Later he had charge of the Malvern Mill owned by the late William Penn Evans. For a time also he managed a mill at Steelton, near Harrisburg. He was one of the original men to take an interest in securing a borough charter for Malvern and so appreciative were the people that they elected him to the original Borough Council, of which he became President. He served with much credit being a man of ability and care, and the thoroughness he showed in his work was of much advantage to the town. Being a skilled mechanic, he knew when work was well done. His wife, who was the sister of John and William Thomas, died two years ago, leaving him five children: Nellie, wife of Darlington Priest; John an engineer in Philadelphia; Robert with a builder in Bustleton, Philadelphia; Anna who had been his housekeeper in recent years; William who is with a milk condensary in Western New York: two brothers are living – John of Malvern and George of Westtown. Entriken – In Malvern, Pa on Saturday August 19 1916, Charles C Entriken in his 83rd year. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral without further notice from his late residence in Malvern on Tuesday august 22 1916. Services at the house at 2 o'clock p m. Interment at Malvern Baptist Cemetery.
