He had been in declining health incident to his age several months. He was the youngest and last surviving child of John and Margaret (Chandler) Gray, who lived for a number of years south of Avondale. He was a veteran of the Civil War.His wife was Willie Ann White, daughter of James and Rachel White, of Grove, who passed away four yearsago. Two children survive: Davis D.,living at Modena, and Elizabeth S.Hoopes, with whom they made their home the last six years and living in New Garden thirty-nine years. He passed quietly and peacefully away, as he had lived." Local News 9-17-1910 "GRAY- On Saturday morning,September 17,1910, John Gray, aged 86 years. Funeral on Monday,September 19,1910, at the home of Edward Hoopes, West Grove,Pa. Relatives,friends, and neighbors are invited without further notice. Leave the house at 12 o'clock.Interment at Upper New Garden.Carriages will meet trolley arriving at West Grove at 10:30 a.m."
