CHESTER, Pa., December 30. - Colonel William C. Gray, one of the best known citizens of Chester, died this afternoon at his home, after a lingering illness. Colonel Gray was born near Claymont, Del., October 4, 1831. He organized the Kayne Guards during the war of the rebellion, and later recruited a company known as the Delaware County Guards, which was mustered in as company E, One Hundred and Nineteenth regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers, in which Colonel Gray served with distinction during the entire war.
