Hamilton, Jr., one of Coatesville’s best-known men, died suddenly yesterday at his home on West Chester Road from an attack of bronchial pneumonia. He was in this 66th year. Mr. Hamilton had been in failing health fro some time past but he was able to be about as usual until last Thursday when he was compelled to take his bed and his condition rapidly became worse. He had been a resident of Coatesville virtually all his life. For about thirty- five years he was an employe (sic) of the Lukens Steel Company and at the time he retired from that company twelve years ago he was superintendent of the 140- inch and universal mills. For some years after that he was engaged in the real estate and insurance business in Philadelphia but for several years past he had lived retired. Mr. Hamilton was a familiar figure about the streets in his later years and greeted friends in the business section of the city as late as last Tuesday. He was connected with the Olivet M.E. Church. Surviving him are two daughters, Miss Lillian Hamilton, at home, and Mrs. Emil Saalbach, and a granddaughter, Doris Saalbach. A brother, William H. Hamilton, who was superintendent of the Lukens Steel Company, died some years ago. The funeral will take place privately at the convenience of the family on Thursday with interment in Fairview Cemetery.
