She was a daughter of Sarah and the Late Benjamin Lewis and was born near Romansville. She belonged to the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Kreemer Bible Class and the Ladies of the Golden Eagle. Two sons survive her, George of Coatesville and Franklin of Hagerstown, MD. Ibid HAMPTON- In West Chester, on Friday, September 15, 1916, Sarah E. Hampton, wife of Franklin P. Hampton, and daughter of Jane and the late Benjamin W. Lewis, in the 49th year of her age. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral without further notice from her late residence, 133 Lacey Street, on Monday, September 18, 1916. Meet at the house at 2 o’clock. Interment at Greenmount Cemetery. Invitation extended to West Chester Temple, No. 19, Ladies of the Golden Eagle. Daily Local News, September 18, 1916 Rev. Jay Dickerson, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, yesterday conducted services over the body of Sarah E., Wife of Franklin R. (sic) Hampton, at her late home, on Lacey Street, and interment was made at Greenmount Cemetery. Handsome floral tributes were presented including a pillow with the word “Mother”, from the family; and a cross and crown from the Ladies of the Golden Eagle. Additional services were conducted by the West Chester Temple, No 175, Ladies of the Golden Eagle, with Mrs. Frank Harp as Noble Templar; Mrs. John Veit, Priestess, Miss Blanche Mendenhall, Marshal of Ceremonies; Mrs. Mary Meguigan, Past Templar; Miss Bertha Printz, Prophetess. Members of the Kreemer Bible Class were there in considerable number, Prof. S. I. Kreemer being teacher, and Mrs. Samuel J Lewis, President. The pall bearers were relatives, including members of the Naylor family. A bevy of a dozen Ladies of the Golden Eagle attended from Downingtown, directed by Mrs. Williams, in addition to those from West Chester. The Kreemer Bible Class held its services on Sunday evening, with an address by Prof. Kreemer, and hymns by the class. A floral tribute was sent.
