He was a Justice of the Peace ten years and an active part in business and political affairs for over half a century. He leaves three sons and three daughters. Funeral of Benjamin Harley, Local Chester Co paper, 6/9/1891: The funeral of the venerable Benjamin Harley, one of the oldest and best known citizens of north Chester county, took place on Sunday at 1:30 o'clock, from the residence of his son Harrison Harley, in North Coventry township. There was a large attendance - many relatives and friends being present from a distance. Rev. J P Hetric conducted religious services and preached an appropriate service at the house. The pall-bearers were six young men: Lewis R Harley, Frederick Harley, Edward Harley and Wayne Harley, grandsons; Ellwood A Leopold, a grandson-in-law and Rudolph Harley, a relative of the deceased. Mr. Harley was in his 86th year. The remains were interred at the East Coventry Mennonite Burial Ground.
