Campbell Harris John Campbell Harris, a life member of the Union League and a wealthy retired business man, died Saturday at his home, Ravenswood, the old Powers family house in School House Lane, Germantown. Mr. Harris was a son of Stephen Harris and Marianne Smith Harris. He was born at Frazer, on April 10th, 1840. At the outbreak of the Civil War, after admission to the bar in the District of Columbia, he immediately received a commission as lieutenant, in the Marine Corps, of which his uncle, Col. John Harris, was commander. Resigning from the Marine Corps, in 1869, he married Miss Mary Powers, daughter of the late Thomas H. Powers, of the great chemical manufacturing firm of Powers and Weightman. Mr. Harris is survived by his widow and three sons.
