Daily Local News, July 21, 1879

The French Creek Mining Accident-  The funeral of Heber Hartenstine, aged 41 
years, who was killed by the caving in of an iron ore mine at Falls of French 
Creek, Chester County, on the 14th inst., took place on Saturday morning from 
his late residence and was very largely attended.  Deceased was a consistent 
member of the Pine Swamp Evangelical Church, but as that edifice is being re-
modeled services were held in the schoolhouse, near by.  Mr. Hartenstine 
leaves a wife and seven male children to mourn the sad and untimely loss of a 
husband and father.
