The deceased was born in bondage, and liberated by his paternal parents and educated by him in West Chester, and returned to Virginia- here he was left a bequest of several thousand dollars by his father. He returned to West Chester in 1853, and was the possessor of a number of dwelling houses and a handsome garden. He was well read in all the affairs of the country, and exceedingly intelligent, and modest withal. In him was united the blood of the African and Anglo-Saxon. Chester County Times, January 12, 1861 HEPBURN-On Tuesday, 8th inst., after a long illness, Moses Hepburn, aged 52 years. The deceased will be buried on the 1st day next, at Longwood.
