Montgomery Ledger, Pottstown, 7/15/1884

Joshua Hoffman died on  Thursday at his residence in East 
Coventry, Chester county, of cancerous affection, aged 
about 60 years. Deceased was a single man, son of George 
Hoffman, deceased.  His mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Hoffman, 
with whom he resided, is still living and one of the oldest 
persons in the township.  Nathan Hoffman, of Pottstown, 
and Hiram Hoffman, of Germantown, are brothers, and Mrs. 
Mary Brower, of East Coventry, is a sister of the deceased.  
Mr. Hoffman was an industrious and upright citizen, who 
followed the occupation of farmer.   He had been an invalid 
for some time past.  The funeral will take place on Monday 
(July 14) ; interment at St Vincent Reformed Church.
