Mrs. Sarah L. Kelso, for fifty years a resident of West Chester, died last evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Goetz, in Downington, where she had made her home for the past five years. She had been in ill health for two years, but had been bedfast for only about a week. Mrs. Kelso was born in Lancaster county, not far from Honey Brook, a daughter of Benjamin F. and Ellen Jane Laurance. She was twice married, her first husband being Isaiah Rambo, for twenty-five years an engineer on the Pennsylvania Railroad, whose death occurred in 1887. She later married George I Kelso, who died about eleven years ago. For many years Mrs. Kelso lived in West Market street, where she conducted a boarding house. She is survived by five children: Morris E. Rambo, of Philadelphia; Clarence B. and Willard T. Rambo, West Chester; Myrtle R., wife of Andrew Goetz, and Mary D., wife of John Snyder, at Downingtown. There are several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two sons, Ellwood and Charles, died in infancy. Two sister, Miss Anna E. Laurence, of Glen Hall, and Mrs. Florence Donley, of Philadelphia, and a brother, Ellwood Laurence, of Philadelphia, also survive. The late Frank Laurence, of Glen Hall, was a brother. A sister-in-law, Mrs. J. A. Wiley, of West Grove, and three step-children, Mrs. Frank Pitt, West Chester; Miss Elsie Kelso, Edgemont, and Harry Kelso, Rosemont, also survive. Mrs. Kelso is well remembered in West Chester where she had many friends. 03 Mar 1927 KELSO.-In Downingtown, on March 2, Sarah L., widow of George I. Kelso (nee Rambo), in the 75th year of her age. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral without further notice from the residence of her and Clarence B. Rambo, 10 South Church St., West Chester, on Sunday, March ? (Meet at the house at 3 o’clock p. m. Interment at Greenmount Cmeetery. Friends may call Saturday evening. 07 Mar 1927 The funeral of Mrs. Sarah T. Kelso, late of Downingtown, took place yesterday afternoon from the home of her son, Clarence B. Rambo, south Church street, and was largely attended by friends and relatives, who were here from Lancaster, Philadelphia, Wilmington, Columbia, and other places. Services were conducted by Rev. Joseph Schubert, pastor of the Downingtown Baptist church, and Rev. Edward B. Ninde, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church of West Chester. Mrs. Frank H. Spickler, of West Chester, sang sweetly, “Lead, Kindly Light,” and “Abide With Me.” There was an abundance of floral tributes presented by friends and relatives. Interment was at Greenmount Cemetery, the pall bearers being her three sons: Morris Rambo, of Philadelphia; Clarence and William Rambo, of West Chester; her sons-in-law, Andrew Goetz and John Snyder, of Downingtown, and Bert Radcliffe, of Downingtown.
