KENNEDY, died July 23, 1935 William S. Kennedy, a resident of this borough for the past 35 years, a charter member of the West End Fire Company, and employed as a stone and marble cutter by George A. Detwiler, of West Bridge street, for 33 years, died at his late residence, 355 Nutt Road, at 4:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. Kennedy was aged 67 years and death was due to complications. He had been seriously ill for the past 10 weeks. Born in Honey Brook, Chester County, he was the son of the late William M. and Sarah Ebelhare [sic] Kennedy. He came to Phoenixville 35 years ago. He was one of the few original members of No. 3 Fire Company. He also was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Honey Brook. Besides his wife, Mrs. Mabel E. (nee Wilson) Kennedy, Mr. Kennedy is survived by the following children: William S. Kennedy, Jr., of East Pikeland; Winfield Kennedy, at home; Wayne Kennedy, at home; Bena, wife of George Shupe, of Griffin street; and Dorothy, wife of Ambrose Gausch, at home. Two brothers, George Kennedy and John Kennedy, of Honey Brook, and the following sisters, Mrs. P. J. Mertz, of Honey Brook; Mrs. John Kennedy, of Philadelphia; and Miss Lillian Kennedy, also of Philadelphia survive. Four grandchildren also remain. Funeral services will be held at the late residence with short services at 1 o'clock and continued in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Honey Brook. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery.
