Kirkner, widely known local resident, died at Montgomery Hospital, Norristown, at 8 o’clock last night. Mr. Kirkner, who had been employed in the plate mill of the Conshohocken plant for many years, suffered from a stomach ailment. He was born here and resided in this section of Chester and Montgomery Counties practically his entire life. He was the son of the late Arnold M. Kirkner and Hannah Mary (nee Rambo) Kirkner. Mr. Kirkner, while a young man, was employed in the New Mill of the Phoenix Iron Company. He later worked at Luken’s Steel Company plant in Coatesville. Prior to returning to this borough about two years ago, Mr. Kirkner resided in Jeffersonville, where he was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Two of Mr. Kirkner’s sons, John and Gilmore Kirkner, were killed in accidents. John met his death about two years ago in an automobile accident at Reading, while Gilmore died from injuries suffered when an explosion occurred in a small manufacturing plant at King of Prussia several months ago. He was in the office of the plant when a mysterious explosion wrecked the building. His first wife, Mrs. Mary (nee Doran) Kirkner, of this borough, died many years ago. The following sons and daughters survive: Clarence Kirkner, serving in the United States Army and stationed at California; Agnes Kirkner, of Reading; Vernon Kirkner, of Strafford, and Edith Kirkner, of Wilmington, del. The following sisters and brother also remain: Mrs. Eva L Peppel, of 317 Hall Street, with whom he resided for the past several years; Maude, wife of Jesse Corbett, of Church Street; Mrs. Lula Banks, of Philadelphia, and William Kirkner. Funeral services will be held at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Peppel, 317 Hall Street, on Friday afternoon, July 19, at 2:30 o’clock.
