Kirkner, 68, veteran of the Spanish-American war, was found dead on Wednesday night in the home of Ettinger-Powers-Campbell Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Phoenixville. He was employed as a caretaker at the VFW home and his death was attributed to a heart attack. Deputy coroner Cooper T. Bishop, Jr. investigated and issued a certificate of death from natural causes. Kirkner was born in Philadelphia, but resided in Phoenixville most of his life. He served with Battery C, 107th Pennsylvania Light Field Artillery, in Puerto Rico. Kirkner was a member of the First Methodist Church, Ettinger-Powers-Campbell Post, No 1564, V.F.W,; Walters Camp, No 151 United Spanish War Veterans, and Phoenix Nest, Fraternal Order of Orioles. He was a moulder by trade and previously had been employed by the Phoenix Iron Company at Berwyn. In addition to his widow, Mrs. Emma M. (nee Walters) Kirkner, Mr. Kirkner is survived by the following children: J Earl Kirkner, Norristown, Mary A., Wife of Albert M. Miller, Schuylkill Road; A Catherine, wife of Walter Syphard, Pottstown; Ethel J., wife of Charles W. Graten; Harry B. Kirkner, Phoenixville; and Donald E. Kirkner, Schwenksville.
