Rev J B Knipe breathed his last on Wednesday night at his home in East Pikeland Township aged seventy-nine years and nine months. When a young man he came to that locality and became pastor of the Lower Pikeland Church which ministerial position was occupied by him for fifty-two consecutive years. He afterwards filled the pulpit of St Paul's Reformed Church in Uwchlan and also St Vincent's in the Township of East Vincent. Mr Knipe was the oldest Reformed minister of the Philadelphia Classis. On the Sunday immediately proceeding last Christmas he preached his last sermon, in Phoenixville. As a citizen a member of society and a minister it may be truthfully said he approached as nearly the performance of his whole duty as humanity is capable of doing. Universally beloved by his parishioners and the community at large by reason of the charming traits of his character, his departure will be deeply mourned by all classes, both young and old. Quiet and obtrusive in his general deportment, he was yet a man of unusual influence among his neighbors. He was almost absolutely free from a faultfinding tendency, preferring to exercise a wholesome restraint among those whose disposition was towards improper conduct by kindly expressed admonitions rather than by stern reprimands. Although possessed of considerable power as a religious teacher from the pulpit his influence was perhaps more largely exercised among the members of his church in their individual capacity. He thus endeared himself closely and affectionate manner warmly commended him. It may be considered a hackneyed phrase to say that it will be difficult to fill the void caused by his death' but in this instance the language is especially applicable to which the entire community in which he lived will unhesitatingly bear witness.
