He was a veteran soldier and ha for a number of years been a mail carrier between Loag and Barneston. He belonged also to Good Will M.E Church. Several years ago his wife died. Three children survive him, Elmer and Mrs. William McCannon of Barneston, and Mrs. Frank Irwin, of Wilmington. He came to West Chester occasionally to mingle with the veterans who had served in the Civil War. Ibid: LEIGHTON- In Lancaster General Hospital, on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., Wayne Leighton, aged 76 years. Relatives and friends, also the G.A.R Post of West Chester, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday, June 17. Meet at the home of his son, Elmer, at Barneston, at 1 o’clock p.m. Services in Good Will M.E. Church at 1:45. Interment in adjoining Cemetery. Automobiles will meet 9 a.m. train at Isabella, Wilmington & Northern Railroad. Additional Comments: Wife Rebecca died July 8, 1912. Both buried at Goodwill Methodist.
