Daily Local News, November 20, 1900

Last evening information was brought to Deputy Coroner David C. Moore, of 
Guthrieville, East Brandywine township, that Elisha (sic) Lindsley had been 
found dead in the orchard on James Dowlin’s property, in that township.  Mr. 
Moore summoned the following jury:  Elijah B. Thomas, William H. Garey, 
Randall Hadfield, Harry Plucher, George S. Lewis and Joseph England.  The jury 
after being qualified viewed the body.  A razor clutched in the dead man’s 
hand and a gash across his throat told the story of suicide, and the jury 
accordingly rendered a verdict of suicide.  The deceased was 63 years of age.  
He was a laboring man and came to East Brandywine Township from Columbia about 
six years ago.  He leaves a wife and six children.

LINDSLEY- Suddenly, in East Brandywine township, on Monday, November 19, 1900, 
Elijah Lindsley, aged 63 years.  Relatives and family are invited to attend 
the funeral on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock.  Services at the house.  
Interment at Hopewell Cemetery.
