Tom was born January 15, 1936 in Blairsville, PA to the late William and Nellie Lowman. He enlisted in the United States Navy, where he sang in the Blue Jacket Choir and served aboard the USS Valley Forge aircraft carrier (CV-45), singing with the Valley Forge Choraliers. He retired from Delmarva Power and Light after 34 years of service. Tom was an active member of the West Grove Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir. Tom excelled as a father, grandfather and brother. Tom's courage during his suffering was an inspiration to all who knew him. His warmth and wit made his days with us very special. He was a wonderful man who will long be remembered. His brother, Ralph, preceded him in death in 2000. He is greatly missed by his loving wife of 42 years, Janette; and his 4 children, Darrell and his wife, Louisa of Raymond, NH, Karen and her husband, Kevin McCaul of Cowpens, SC, Cheryl and her husband, David Hunt of Aiea, HI and Suzy of Newark, DE. Other survivors include 8 grandchildren, Michaela, Patrick, Jessica, Amanda, Caitlin, Andrew, Jason and Michael. He is also survived by his brother, William Lowman of New Castle, DE; and sister-in-law, Louise Lowman of Blairsville, PA; and by his friends and other family members. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his life celebrations on Friday, April 18 from 10-12 noon at the West Grove Presbyterian Church, 139 W. Evergreen St., West Grove, PA. His funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the church. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, N. DuPont Hwy., New Castle, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the West Grove Presbyterian Church Music Department, 139 W. Evergreen St., West Grove, PA 19390.
