LUMIS Yesterday John F. Lumis, of Upper Uwchland Township, died after a brief illness of pneumonia, in the 69th year of his age. He had been sick only a few days and the shock to relatives and friends was severe. Mr. Lumis was a native of that section and had been a farmer for many years, but recently disposed of his farm with the idea of returning. He is survived by numerous relatives. His wife died some years since. There are two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Connor, a widow, and Mrs. Ivan Emery surviving. There are also three and three sisters, namely R. R. Lumis, West Vincent, George S. Lumis and J. Howard Lumis, West Chester; Mrs. Lewis C. Moses; Mrs. C. K. Mosteller, West Chester and Mrs. William A Moore, Milford Mills. The deceased was a member of the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, and Mt. Pickering Lodge, F. & A. M. He was an industrious, good citizen, whose loss will be felt by others than his immediate relatives. Daily Local West Chester, Pennsylvania March 1, 1916 Lumis – In Upper Uwchland Township, On Sunday February 27, John F. Lumis on the 69th year of age. Relatives and friends also members of Mt. Pickering Lodge, F. & A. M., are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, March 2nd. All services will be held at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. Carriages will meet morning train at Anselma Station, P. V. R. R . Daily Local West Chester, Pennsylvania March 4, 1916 The funeral of John F. Lumis was held Thursday afternoon from his late home in East Nantmeal Township. Services were conducted at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, and they were largely attended, Rev. M. G. Richard, pastor of the church, had charge of the services. The pallbearers were John Goodman, Phoenixville; Rueben Beerbower, Jones Latshaw, John Kenny, James Simpson and Harvey Krauser. Interment was made in adjoining cemetery.
