Mason died on Saturday at the home of his son in Philadelphia after being in a more or less feeble condition for a number of years, death resulting from general debility. Mr. Mason was born and raised in the vicinity of White Horse, Salisbury township, and for many years conducted a harnessmaking shop at White Horse. Owing to failing health he quit his trade and business about fifteen years ago and lived semi-retired on a small farm in the village until last fall when he and his wife went to Philadelphia to live with their son, Park. Mr. Mason was almost a life-long member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and for many years was a vestryman of the congregation always taking an active part in the church. Very interesting, indeed, were the biographical events of the church, which he loved to relate. He was in the seventieth years of his age. In politics he was a Democrat of the old type and during the Cleveland administration he served as postmaster a Pequea post office. For many years he was a member of the Knights of Pythias. His widow, who was Anna Weaver, of Salisbury township, a sister of Jonathan H. Weaver, of this boro, and one son with whom he residd, survive to mourn his departure; also one brother, R. B. Mason, of Lancaster. The remains were shipped to Gap on Tuesday morning and were conveyed to St. John’s Episcopal Church at Compass where services were held and the interment was made in the Mason burial plot.
