Saturday when he walked in front of an oncoming automobile on the Baltimore Pike, four miles south of Oxford. The victim, LeRoy McCall, was walking south along the southbound lane of Route 1, when he stepped without warning into the path of a car operated by Forrest M. Harvey, 49, Church St., North East, Md. He was struck by the right front fender and headlight of Harvey’s automobile. According to Dr. Guy T. Holcombe, Oxford physician, who examined the body at the scene, the victim died instantly of a fractured skull. Harvey told State Police at Avondale that he was cruising at a speed of about 40 miles per hour at the time that McCall suddenly decided to cross the highway. He said he did not see McCall until almost the instant of the impact. McCall, a laborer employed by the Berlanti Construction Co., of Chester, resided in Nottingham at the home of a niece, Mrs. Mary Featherman. He had made his home there since last February, previous to which he had been employed in Philadelphia. The deceased was born in West Nottingham township to the late Henry and Susan Drennen McCall. He is survived by two brothers, Norman, of Nottingham, and Russell, of Oxford, and two sisters, Mrs. Sara Grayson, of Oxford, and Mrs. Ida M. Campbell, Nottingham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, September 10, at 2 P.M., at the Cauffman Funeral Home, 172 Pine St., Oxford, Pa. Interment in Oxford Cemetery.
