Death was due to a complication of ills from which he had been suffering for more than a year and a half. For some time past his condition had been serious. After having been exempted from war service, Mr.Miller decided to go anyhow and he joined the regular army early in the struggle. After a period of intensive training in this country he sailed for France with his outfit in April, 1918. He was attached to the 18th company, 154th depot brigade and was a member of Company C, 14th machine gun battalion. He took part in the battle of St. Mihiel salient and was wounded three times. The first two wounds did not put him out of action, but after receiving the third wound in the hand he was sent to the hospital and was out of action for the rest of the war. He was one of the first Coatesville boys wounded in action to return to his home. Mr.Miller was a son of the late John S. and Rachel R. McNelly Miller and was born in Lancaster county, but he had spent the most of his life in Coatesville. For many years he was employed in the flanging department of the Lukens Steel company. He was compelled to give up his work on account of ill health in December,1938. He was a member of the Grace United Brethren church of this city. He also belonged to Sahler-Sedan Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, which will honor his memory with a military funeral. The services will take place at the Grace U.B. churfch on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery. Friends have been invited to call at his home on Wednesday evening.
