Funeral on Wednesday, April 7th; leave the house at eleven o'clock. Interment at St. Matthew's Reformed Church. Daily Local West Chester, Pennsylvania April 8, 1880 On Wednesday, April 7th, Mrs. Annie Mosteller, West Vincent Township, was buried at St. Matthew's Reformed Church, West Vincent. The deceased was a victim of consumption. She had been a great sufferer, but bore it all with Christian grace and resignation. There were five children to follow her to the grave, besides a large number of relatives and friends. She had made a number of requests in regard to her funeral services, which were solemnly observed. Her pastor preached a very impressive sermon from the text selected by the deceased – "For me to live in Christ, and to die is gain." The selections of the hymns were in accordance with her great love and good taste for music. They seemed to be the true sentiment of her heart. The music was well rendered by four intimate friends, whom she had selected to do the singing – namely, Mrs. Ellie Eaches, Miss Lizzie Stiteler, Prof. O. B. Shingle and Mr. Thomas Wynn. The following persons were chosen as ball-bearers: Cyrus Swinehart, Jesse A. Sturgis, Frank Ralston, C. K. Mosteller, John B. Stauffer and Samuel Stauffer. The church has lost a consistent member, the husband a kind, affectionate wife, the children a good mother, the brothers and sisters have parted with a lovely sister. But their loss is her gain. The following lines are appropriate to her memory: "Tis finished – conflict is past; The heaven – born spirit is fled. Her wish is accomplished at last, And now she's entombed with the dead. The months of affliction are o'er- The days and the nights of distress; We see her in anguish no more; She's gained her happy release. No sickness, or sorrow, or care Shall ever disquiet her now; For death to her spirit was gain, Since Christ was her life when below.
