All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ Abraham Mosteller -husband of Hannah Shimer - son of Henry and Margaret Sheneman Mosteller ABRAM MOSTELLER In West Vincent Township, Chester County, Abram Mosteller died on Friday at the age of 93 years 2 months and 27 days. He had been up and about the house during the morning and ate a healthy dinner but became ill during the afternoon and passed away quickly. He was born September 21st 1821, a son of Henry Mosteller and spent his early youth along Pigeon Creek in East Coventry. He was the eldest of twelve children and was the last to die. For many years he was widely known through the county as a farmer and wood merchant and since 1847 had lived on the farm where his death occurred. He belonged to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, was a Democrat in politics and had filled various township offices as school director, supervisor and the like. During the Civil War he started on the front as a soldier, but was ordered home after reaching Philadelphia as the Battle of Gettysburg had been fought. He married Hannah, daughter of William Shimer and she lived with him happily until her death six years ago. She was a sister to Mrs. Harry Mosteller and of Dr. Shimer, the latter having died some years ago in Mount Carroll, Illinois, where he was widely known as a practitioner. Four children survived: John H. Mosteller of Mont Clare, Montgomery County, Mrs. Emma Simmers and Mrs. Ella Griffith, who kept house for their father, and Abram Mosteller of No. 31 Dean Street, West Chester. Born about 1820 Daily Local West Chester, Pennsylvania December 19, 1914 In West Vincent Township yesterday afternoon, about four o'clock, Abraham Mosteller died at the age of ninety-three years, two months, twenty seven days. Relatives are invited to attend the funeral services without further notice in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, on Tuesday, December 22, at 11 o'clock a.m. Interment in adjoining Cemetery. Carriages will meet trains at Anselma, P. V. R. R.
