Services will be held at his home at 1:30 o'clock Standard Time. Interment in St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery. Daily Local West Chester, Pennsylvania July 22, 1927 Mosteller – In East Pikeland, near Kimberton, on July 21, Herman J. Mosteller, aged 48 years, 3 months and 9 days. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral without further notice from his residence, in East Pikeland, near Kimberton, On Monday, July 25. All services at the home at 1:30 o'clock, standard time. Interment in St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery. Automobiles will meet trains at Phoenixville, 11:08 south and 11:18 north, Philadelphia and Reading Railroad. While working in a field on his farm, near Kimberton, yesterday afternoon, Herman Mosteller, a well-known farmer of that section, was struck by lightning from a clear sky. The stroke of lighting had struck him on the head and pierced its way through his body. He was engaged in shocking wheat at the time. The air was humid at the time. And it was thought a storm was brewing, but there were no clouds in the sky. Suddenly, without warning, there came, without warning there came a tongue of livid flame. With a sharp cry of pain, Mr. Mosteller fell to the ground; his clothing burned completely off. Two hired men, working nearby, carried the stricken man to his home and summoned a physician, who ascertained that death had been instantaneous. The hired men were uninjured. Mr. Mosteller was a son of the late Joseph Mosteller and was born near Ludwick's Corner. His mother survives and had made her home with him. He is survived by his wife and two children, a son and a daughter. There are also two brothers and three sisters; Morris, of East Nantmeal; Allen J., of Gary Indiana; Miss Margaret Mosteller, of Philadelphia; Mrs. David Hawthorne, of near Norristown, and Mrs. Calvin Stauffer, of Glenside. A brother Charles is deceased. Mr. Mosteller was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, and of Kimberton Grange, Patrons of Husbandry. He was a cousin of J. B. Mosteller of West Chester, and had many relatives throughout the county. Daily Local West Chester, Pennsylvania July 26, 1927 The funeral of Herman Mosteller well-known Kimberton farmer stricken by lightning last Thursday afternoon, was held yesterday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church of this place. It was well attended by friends and relatives from all over Chester County. A brother, Allen J. Mosteller, of Indiana, attended the services and J. B. Mosteller; a cousin who resided in West Chester was present. Pallbearers included officers of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, as follows: Davis Stiteler, Daniel Halderman, Harry Davis and Elmer Bishop. Messrs. Bruner, representing a local Lodge, were the other pall bears. Rev M. L. Richard, a former pastor, now residing at Collingsdale, officiated.
