St. Matthew's UCC Church Records

Rebecca J. Mosteller, died Sept 28, 1870, she was buried Oct 2, 1870. Rev. M. S. 
Rowland preached a touching sermon from the text, "Your Sorrow shall be turned 
into joy" St. John 16.20 verse, age 34 years.

Her pastor visited her, when on her deathbed and by her request they Holy 
Communion of which she per took of the last sacramental bread at the church Aug 
28. She said that the bread did her more good than all the medicines she has 
taken. The last message to the members of the church were – " To hold fast to 
the faith." The church has lost a good member, but we trust that the loss to the 
church, will be her gains.
