Mr. Rea was highly esteemed in that neighborhood, where he had been in business for thirty years or thereabouts, and was for a long time postmaster. He attended Hopewell M.E. Church, in East Brandywine, and had served as a Trustee there. He belonged to Lyndell Grange, Patrons of Husbandry, and took active part in the proceedings. In addition, he was a former President of the Live Stock Insurance Company of that neighborhood, and for a number of years collected the dues of members who lived near him. Mr. Rea is survived by his wife, a daughter of the late Henderson Talley, of West Chester, and one daughter, Miss Emma D. Rea, at home. There is also a sister, Mrs. George Thomas, of Wayne. Daily Local News, April 11, 1910 The funeral of the late James Rea, of Lyndell, took place on Saturday and was largely attended, because of the high place he had held in the esteem of the people. Flowers were sent by the East Brandywine School Board, of which he was president, the public school teachers and pupils, and Lyndell Grange. Rev. Mr. McNeal, the pastor and a former pastor, spoke.
