Mrs. Mary Sands, 82, of Philadelphia, former Parkerford resident, died Sunday 
in Philadelphia. Mrs. Sands, widow of E. Elmer Sands, Pottstown, was a native 
of Parkerford.  A daughter of the late Joseph and Ann Cordelia (Swartz) Thomas, 
she resided most of her life in Pottstown.  Mrs. Sands moved to Philadelphia 
about ten years ago.  She was member of the First Baptist Church, Pottstown.
 
Mrs. Sands is survived by a son, Richard, Pottstown; two brothers, Luther 
Thomas, Bethlehem and H. Swartz Thomas, Spring City and two grand children.
 
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock from a funeral home at 
466 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown.  Officiating were the Rev. Delaine E. Story, 
Pastor of the First Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. George A. Lineaker, 
rector of Christ Episcopal Church.  Interment followed in the Parkerford 
Baptist Cemetery.
