He came to America at the age of 19. He served in the Confederate Army from 1861 to 1865 and was one of the few surviving veterans who hard (sic) the first guns fired at Frt. Sumter. Mr. Scott was married at Burlington, Iowa, to Ada M. Muton* (sic), on April 10, 1867, where they made their home until 1920, moving from there to Chicago, and to their present home, 313 South High Street, this place in the spring of 1925. He is survived by his wife, Ada M. Scott and his five children: Mrs. George Pratt, of Wichita, Kansas; Katherine H., Charles G., and Ada Louise Scott, and Mrs. B.O. Weller, of West Chester, and two grand children: Mrs. J. J. Jackson, Jr, of Torresdale, Pa., and Frederick Nathan Pratt, of Wichita, Kansas.
