Amos Shaner, of Cedarville, was fatally injured yesterday afternoon when he threw on a belt of a gasoline engine after the engine had been started, while cutting wood in company with Harry Evans, his brother-in-law. The belt flew off and broke off a pipe which struck Shaner on the forehead, inflicting a fracture of the skull. The injured young man was sent to Pottstown Hospital in the Good Will ambulance by Dr. Ashenfelter, who had been called. The accident happened while Mr. Shaner was working on the wood land of his brother, Clarence Shaner, the Cedarville storekeeper. At the hospital, the skull was trephined by Dr. J. Elmer Porter, assisted by the resident physician, Dr. Frederick Bushong. Pressure on the brain was thrus removed. The injured young man lingered until 10:45 o'clock last night and died. Mr. Shaner was 28 years old, a married man and has one daughter, Adeline. He is a son of the late Enos Shaner and his mother survives. He was a brother to Harvey Shaner, of Philadelphia; Warren and Clarence, of Cedarville; Lizzie, wife of George Christman, and Minnie, wife of Harry Evans, of Cedarville. The funeral will be held on Wednesday and interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Mr. Shaner was a bench molder in the employ of March-Brownback Stove Company.
