He was aged 52 years 2 months and 14 days. The cause of his death was softening of the brain. His malady first manifested itself about two years ago, and his aberration of mind gradually assumed a more acute form. He was married to a daughter of the late George Miller, North Coventry, who survives him and the following children: Mrs. Minnie Evans, Pottstown; Clarence, of Cedarville; Warren, of Phila.; Harvey, of Hastings-on-the-Hudson, NY; and Amos, Ada and Elizabeth living at home. Daniel Shaner, of North Coventry, is his brother, and the following sisters survive: Mrs. Clara Amole, of North Coventry; Mrs. Addison Evans, of South Pottstown; and Mrs. Edward Rambo, of Pottstown. Enos Shaner was a machinist of ability. He learned his trade at the shops of the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Company, this borough, when James Irwin was foreman, and he became adept at the business. For many years he was connected with a firm at Hastings-on-the-Hudson, NY, makers of patent blocks for paving. He was the inventor of an important part of the machinery and erected plants in various parts of the country. His son Harry is still with the firm. After leaving there, Mr. Shaner worked at West Chester for a year and then entered the employ of R. S. Newbold & Co., of Norristown. He erected asphalt block works at New Orleans, Hastings-on-the-Hudson, NY, Chicago, Baltimore, New Castle, Del., and at Washington, D. C. He was last employed by the Washington Asphalt Block and Tile Company. By an accident some years ago, Mr. Shaner lost the thumb and finger of his left hand and soon thereafter left the employ of Newbold & Co. The funeral will be held on Monday, July 19th at 11 o'clock. Services in Cedarville M. E. Church, and interment in Mount Zion Cemetery. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/ File size: 2.4 Kb
