Smedley, in his 69th year. Funeral from his late residence near Kirkland Station, West Whiteland n Thursday. Meet at the house at 11 o’clock. Interment at the Friends Burying Ground, Lionville. Friends and relatives invited without further notice. DLN Ibid: George Smedley Yesterday morning George Smedley, aged about 68 years, died at his home on the old Saml. Kirk property, Kirkland. He had been living there for two years several months ago he had a stroke of paralysis, which, being followed by others, caused his death. He was a brother of Peter Smedley, of West Chester, the well-known minister in the Society of Friends and was an uncle of the artist Wm T. Smedley. Other members of the family reside I Uwchlan, and several sons and daughters are living in the Chester Valley. The children of George Smedley are Mrs. Rena Armstrong, Merion; Harvey Smedley, Paoli; Mrs. Laura Hampton, Exton and Davis, William and Florence, who reside at home. Daily Local News, March xx, 1893 The funeral of George Smedley of the Boot, took place yesterday afternoon. Phebe Griffith spoke at the house and Peter Smedley at the Lionville Meeting House. The interment took place in the Lionville Friends’ Cemetery, and a large attendance of deceased’s relatives and friends viewed the body before it was place in the grave.
