Aged 45 years, of 128 West Union Street, a well-known colored resident of the borough, died late yesterday, after suffering for a short time with an attack of typhoid fever. He leaves a widow, two children and a sister, all of this place. He was a brother of the late John W. Smothers, for some time proprietor or the former Magnolia House, on East Miner Street. Deceased was a member of Harmony Lodge, F & AM, and Jerusalem Commandery, of the same Order. He had long worked as a laborer about this place. Daily Local News, April 10, 1919 SMOTHERS- On the 8th inst., Elias Clifton Smothers, in his 46th year. Relatives and friends, also Harmony Lodge, NO. 21, F&AM, Jerusalem Commandery, are invited to attend the funeral at Bethel A.M.E church on Friday, the 11th inst. Services at 1 o’clock.
