Mrs. Clifton E. Smothers
Jessie Elizabeth Smothers, wife of Clifton E. Smothers, died yesterday at her 
home, 405 W. Market St.  She had been in failing health for several months.  
Mrs. Smothers resided in West Chester for over fifty years and was a member of 
Bethel A.M.E. Church.  Surviving are a son, John W. and a daughter, Grace, 
both of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Phillip Wilson, Bedford, Pa., and 
Albert Wilson, Christiana.  There are many nieces and nephews.

SMOTHERS- In West Chester, Pa., on July 1, 1955, Mrs. Jennie E. Smothers, wife 
of the late Clifton E. Smothers.  Relatives and friends are respectfully 
invited to attend the funeral services from the Bethel A.M.E. Church, West 
Chester, on Wednesday, July 6, 1955, at 1 P.M. (DST).  Interment in Chestnut 
Grove Annex.  Friends may call at the church on Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 
o’clock (DST)
