In Southern,N.C. C. Arthur Speakman of Mt. Vernon,N.Y. dided suddenly from a 
heat attack. he was 70 year of age and had been in good health.
He and Mrs. Speakman,the former Miss Aimee Zane of West Chester, drove through 
here last Wednesday on a Southern trip, and stopped here for a hotel dinner, 
his sister, Miss Mary E. Speakman, being there guest at the time.
On Saturday aftrnoon, while stopping at a hotel in Southern Pines, he became 
ill, was taken to a hospital and passed away.Mrs Speakman is on her way home 
by rail.
Mr.Speakman had been away from here for a number of years, having spent the 
active part of his business life with the AmericanLithograph company in New 
York, where he retired about fifteen years ago. He was an Episcopalian 
vestryman, and President of the Hospital Board in Mount Vernon, a suburb o New 
York.
Three daughters survive him: Charlotte, wife of Harol Oviatt,San Mateo, Cal.,; 
Elizabeth, wife of Foster Webster,Larchmont N.Y.,; Eleanor, wife of James L. 
Crider, Baltimore.


The funeral of C.Arthur Speakman , late of Mt. Vernon N.Y. was held yesterday 
afternoon from the chapel of J. B. Smith & Son, East Gay street. Service were 
conducted by Rev.Jacob Ashton Winterstein, rector of the church of the Holy 
Trinity, West Chester, Interment was made at Concorcville Friends` Cemetery.

biographing his life. One lists parents as Townsend and Charlotte Speakman.
