"Ted" Speakman Dead" 1/31/1911 "Ted" Speakman is dead, and when the news becomes known to-day there will be many sorrowful hearts among his host of playmates in Coatesville. Fredrick the 11 year old son of Mr. andMRs. F.W. Speakman, Coatesville Died yesterday at summer Park, flordia, where the family has been for about six weeks, following an illness of about a year. Besides his parents, he leaves two brothers, Franklin aged 15 years adn Paul aged 7. There was not a more rugged boy in Coatesville about a year than "Ted" Speakman. then he contracted a severe cold and pneumonia developed. He recovered and was able to be out. He suffered a relapse and gradually became worse, and his case seemed to be beyond the medical science. The family did everything within their power to relieve the boy`s suffering and bring him around all right. Specialist attended the boy, and six weeks ago he was taken to Flordia for his health. "Ted" was a favorite among the boys in Coatesville. 2/4/1911 "TED" SPEAKMAN LAID TO REST Reposing in a metallic casket, around which were banked beautiful floral tributes relatives adn friends assembled in the parlors of the Speakman Hotel yesterday afternoon to pay their last respects to Fredrick W. Speakman the 11 year old son of Mr and Mrs. F.W. Speakman, who was best known to his friends as "Ted". Inpressive though beautiful, were the services conducted by Rev. Addison Lamb, rector of the Church of the Trinity, whose sermon was followed by a hymn, "Asleep in the arms of Jesus", sung by Mrs. Hagar Miller Lillico. The pall bearers were: E.T. Moore, W. S. Young, S. horace Scott, E.H. Doan,Max Steinwachs, J. Ellsworth Doan. The remains were laid to rest in fairview Cemetery. While the funeral cortege was en route to the cemetery the hotels on Main street, paid their respects by drawing thr curtains and closing the shutters. At the Stephenson House that hostelry closed entirely. Ted Speakman has a disposition that would make any boy enviable. Some months ago "Ted" heard tell of a family in need, and he directed that the money he saved in a bank be given to the needy persons, and his request was carried out. his playmates were numerous and rich and poor boys share alike with him. Much sympathy is expressed for the parents in their hour of bereavement. Additional Comments: This is typed exactly found in the file. Any grammactical error is from that time.
