Losing his hold while cutting branches off a buttonwood tree along the brink of an 
abandoned iron ore mine hole on the Jones Acker farm at Chester Springs yesterday 
afternoon, Howard Temple 62 an employee of the State Highway Department, slipped 
into the hole and was drowned in 25 feet of water.

sawing a dead limb, into a flooded mine hole.
