Thompson, aged twenty-two years, of Rockville, Honey Brook Township. He died in Delaware hospital, Wilmington, as a result of a fractured skull and other injuries suffered Thursday at the Claymont Steel Corporation plant, Claymont, Del. Surgeons performed an emergency operation but failed to regain consciousness from the time he was admitted to the hospital. Thompson, employed as a crane repairman, was injured when he fell from a crane while descending a ladder. A coroner’s investigation is under way. The body was removed to the Archie S. MacLean funeral home, Coatesville. Born in Rockville, he was a son of Percy B. and Nellie F Thompson, Rockville, and was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. He attended the Honey Brook High School and from 1947 to 1950 served with the Air Force in the Pacific area. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, the former Sara R. Vandegriff, and a ten-month-old daughter, Deborah Ann Thompson. These brother ad sisters also survive: Perry B. and Charlotte R. Thompson, both of Rockville; Ralph E. Thompson and A. Frances, wife of William Messner, both of near Honey Brook. Joseph R. Miller, Salisbury Twp., Lancaster County, the maternal grandfather, also survives. MacLean’s Funeral Home, 5th ave. and Lincoln Hwy., Coatesville, on Thursday, November 1, at 2 p.m. Interment in East Brandywine Baptist Cemetery.
